This large 300x200x20mm handmade New Zealand Rimu Cheese Board with a small Paua shell inset is perfect for sharing wine and cheese with guests on special occasions. Monogramming is available at an additional charge. The story of our Rimu Ocean Shell have recently sourced a supply of Rimu that has come from deep river beds and lakes of New Zealand’s West Coast. This Rimu’s colour reflects its story, and you may notice a dark colour and variety of browns and reds. This is the result of sitting in the water for many years. With Rimu having a lifespan of 600-800 years and being protected from logging, these tonal changes are representative of the variety of places and methods we have to procure this timber, including harvesting cyclone damaged live trees, recycling early century timber houses and fallen trees. We want you to know the full story of our Rimu when you buy it, and know why it looks that way so you can communicate with your customers. While the colour may change, the quality stays the same and each piece is unique and individual. We anticipate this darker colour will account for a significant portion of our products for the next year.
